Located on the lower East end of the city. 181 Hudson sits right on a corner in full view of the public with a gorgeous masonry landmarked property. The building exhibited extreme masonry disrepairs and cracking at the corner of the building facing Hudson and Vestry Street. STONE quickly came in to perform masonry corner rebuilding, all the while upgrading the structural system beneath the masonry to a rehabilitated condition to support the building for decades to come.
STRUCTURAL STEEL REHABILITATION
Once the existing masonry at the corner exposed the existing steel, STONE got to work by rehabilitating the steel structural beam found that was exhibiting delamination, or weakening prior to the continuation of any work.
STONE also performed adjacent repairs to the steel beam at the corner, replacing all adjacent lintels and connecting them to the structural corner to ensure stability and masonry security from damage.
STONE made sure that the newly repaired steel was able to support the newly replaced lintels by adding strucutral support plates that allowed for the new lintels to sit supported from the main corner beam with no issues.
Once all updates to the existing steel and adjacent lintels were completed, the installation of matching historical masonry began to ensure that all elements matched historical conditions per Landmarks Commission mandate.
